Our pledge to tackle hate crime 

Tackling hate crime remains a priority for the CPS. Between January and March 2026, the hate crime conviction rate increased to 86.6%, up from 85.3% in the previous quarter.   

In May, we updated our hate crime prosecution guidance, to make charging decisions more quickly and consistently. It was reviewed to combat the rise in antisemitic incidents across the country. Stephen Parkinson, Director of Public Prosecutions, issued the guidance which applies to all hate crime cases and reflects our ongoing commitment to bringing offenders to justice and supporting victims.
