Stephen Lawrence was murdered in an unprovoked racist attack by a gang of youths in Eltham, south east London in April 1993.
Devastated by grief but determined to create hope, Stephen’s mother Doreen (now Baroness Lawrence) founded the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust in 1998, with the aim of promoting a positive community legacy in their son’s name. The Stephen Lawrence Trust have recently launched useful resources to help schools mark Stephen Lawrence Day which takes place on 22nd April 2019.
